I get a lot of messages from people wanting to hear my story, and I'm eager to tell it. But not in some scripted, Hollywood produced spectacle kind of way. More like a hanging out with friends getting to know each other kind of way. I'm interested in having a conversation — many conversations! — about the difference between illegal and immoral conduct, for example, and who gets to decide. Or what happens to society when the utterance of certain ideas is off limits. I believe it is a moral imperative we outgrow this culture of condemnation and become a culture of progress and forgiveness. And you know what's necessary for progress? Mistakes. This community is for anyone who's ever made a mistake.
My story may have a huge spotlight because it involves celebrities, heiresses, secrecy, sex, and branding, but the process of oppression, prejudice, and injustice is far from unique. Millions of people sit in prisons as a result of wrongful convictions (any conviction achieved outside the letter of the law). Every day, people are losing their jobs, reputations, affiliations, and friends because of their personal beliefs. Violence and hate have become socially acceptable as long as it's in the name of the right, media-controlled narrative.
I have walked an unpopular path, but I know I'm not alone. I am not without fear — of the government, the angry mob — but I strive every day to never let that fear control my decisions. 2 + 2 will never equal 5, and I will never believe I am not the causing agent of my life, regardless of the circumstances. Someone can be a victim of bad things, but not become a victim. Victimhood is not a lifestyle trend, or at least it shouldn’t be. This is something I had to learn, and outgrow, the hard way. I know I’m not alone.
